Move it Monday

Wow! I can't believe June is gone and July is here in my face already! It is so beyond hot here in Louisiana! Like the temperature is fluctuating from 95-100 just about every day. It is always hot during the Summer but this year is scorching; and the humidity....UGH! The air is so thick it's hard to breathe. I am almost positive I was way more miserable last Summer because I was 9 months pregnant, but this Summer I am chasing an 11 month old that runs.....fast. Speaking of that 11 month old, I have been planning Beckham's 1st Birthday for what seems like his whole life. But it is so close now! I literally have all of these thoughts in my head but I still have so much to do. Like: cover water bottles and juice boxes with labels, make cupcake paper wraps, make banner for tent and for his highchair, make envelopes for invites, send invites (I'm thinking by the 8th), make 28649240 stickers, food labels, goody bags, print tags for thank yous, print tags for sugar cookies, order cakes, cupcakes, cookies, tshirts......ahhh the list goes on and on. BTW those are the things that can be done in advanced, I'm not even going to think about the list of things that need to be done both Friday, and the day of the party. Twenty days, Katie. You still have 20 days until his party...... okay, I'm better.

Anyways new topic- This is kind of random but Beckham has a new found fear of the diaper genie. Yes, the small white, tube shaped, contraption that keeps the house from smelling like poop haha! I don't know what has gotten into him but he is completely afraid of it. Last night while I was putting on his pjs, (I lay him on the floor to do the whole diaper, powder, lotion routine) he kept scooting away from it and making the saddest face like he was scared. So, I hurried to get him dressed and he jumped in my arms and wrapped his arms around my neck. He kept turning his head looking at it then looking at me, them back at it, and then back at me. There's a Scooby Doo stuffed animal that sits right beside it and at first I couldn't tell if he was looking at it or the diaper genie; so, I picked him up and kind of put him near the genie and he lifted his legs up almost to his neck and was truly afraid. I opened the lid a few times and kind of tapped on it so he would see that it wouldn't hurt him, but he wasn't having it. I am really blown away by this because he is honestly not afraid of much at all. He would jump off of any surface imaginable (the bed, coffee table, couch, etc.) if we would let him. He loves to ride the lawn mower and our Polaris Ranger, loves the pool, and with the exception of the vacuum (he's not a fan of it) there isn't much he's afraid of. I guess I'll have to add the diaper genie to that short list, at least for the time being. It's still driving me crazy though. It's been in his room, in the same spot, his entire life, and he's just now noticed it? I'm at a loss.

So there's that.

Move it Monday-
I managed 3 work outs this week. Wednesday I burned 245 calories, Thursday I burned 350 calories, and Friday I did a Zumba class so I'm not sure how many calories I burned but I definitely feel it. I lost 1.6 lbs this week.

High Five For Friday

Hello Friday! How I love thee, especially since I am officially done with school workshops this Summer! YAY! Here are my top 5 things this week...
1. This actually happened last Friday (June 14th), but Beckham had his first haircut! OMG! He was so good and was such a big boy, and now he really looks like a big boy! :( Seriously, my child is so cute. I have heard horror stories about the 'first haircut' and was dreading it, but he didn't fuss at all. I was so proud. He sat in Butch's lap and did so good!

This is Butch's Aunt Patsy BTW, she did Butch's first haircut and is pretty much the only person that has ever cut his hair. So, I guess we will be continuing the Aunt Patsy tradition.
2. This too happened last week, but Beckham had his 'One Year' pictures! We did some outside with a chalkboard that said different things and some inside with a smash cake. I can't wait to see the proofs. I know they are going to be so cute because Beckham was really loving the smash cake!
3. As I said above, I am officially done with Summer school-work... (HAHAHA! Yeah riiiiiiight!) But, I am finished with workshops. Now the real work begins of transitioning everything to the Common Core. I have some really good plans for the next school year, I just need to organize my thoughts and try not to overwhelm myself too much.
4. Yesterday was the 7 year anniversary of my Mamaw's death. I cannot believe it has already been 7 years. I still feel her all around me and think of her daily. My Mom wrote a beautiful post about her and I really couldn't have said it any better. I was so lucky to have my Mamaw for 15 years and the impact she made of my life translates with every decision I make. I am like her in so many ways and I feel so fortunate to have had such a bond with her. She is exactly the kind of woman, Mother, and Christian I strive to be. I am so grateful to call her my Mamaw and thankful for the time we had together. I look forward to seeing her again one day!
5. I am beyond proud of myself right now. Can I brag a little? I have been to the gym 4 days already this week. I am planning on doing a Zumba class tonight, skipping Saturday, and then starting back on Sunday. So far, I have walked over 10 miles and burned over 1200 calories. I know that may not seem like a lot to some, but I am a complete gym novice and I'm PROUD!

Blogger fail...

As mentioned in previous posts my computer has some type of virus. I don't really know but I'm seriously slacking in the blogging department so I have spent the past 3 hours getting caught up using my iPad! But, now that I've found the blogger app I'm hoping I'll do better! Anyways....

Today is our last Friday of this school year! Ahhh!!! I just can't believe I've finished my first year of teaching! It's crazy!! Also, we had some great news today- ALL of the 8th graders passed the LEAP! Hallelujah, praise Jesus! I was/am so happy! So, technically the kids have 4 days of school left & I have 5! And I'm going to a PAID workshop in June that's only 4 days total & I get a free retina display iPad, case & keyboard! Yep, great things happening around here!! I am super excited about the next school year but I can't wait to spend this Summer with my sweet baby boy & wonderful husband! I have some fun projects for Beckham and I to do thanks to Pinterest, plus I have already started planning his first Birthday party!

Yes, in just 57 days (hubby informed me tonight of the count) our baby will be 1 year old. Ugh it makes me so sad to think about him already being a year! My gosh where has the time gone? People really don't lie when they say it flies by. Anyways I plan on thoroughly enjoying the next 57 days while my baby is still less than a year old!

Here's a photo dump of our life lately!
OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT BECKHAM IS WALKING! Yes, at just 9 months old he started walking! It was the craziest thing, he'd take a few steps here and there but the night before Butch came home from Alaska he really started walking, and thank goodness I was face-timing with him so he got to see it all as it was happening! So, yeah it's official, Beckham is seriously trying to to grow up way too fast. I mean come on, crawling at 4 months, walking at 9; he's trying to kill me!
His first bobo. A big old goose egg because he thinks he's grown & can do grown-up things, like jump off the bed.....yeah, long story.
Walking
Climbing
Swimming
Eating dirt
Being sweet! (5/17/13 10 mo old)

Where did April go?

Seriously, where did the month of April go? I'm going to try to summarize our month...
Beckham had his first Easter pictures with baby lambs!! It was so cute and he actually liked them! They were a little more scared of him than the other way around! Anyways I thought the lambs would be something different and I was so pleased with the pics! He's so stinkin cute with his one little tooth! Mary (with Creative Imaging) even had me get in one shot, which turned out to be my first professional picture with my baby-so it doesn't really matter than I'm so not dressed for pics- oh well! I keep begging Butch to do some family pictures but he's not real into it so, we'll see!

I was so pleased with Beckham's Easter basket!! I ordered the basket from etsy and fund the other things at various places. His basket has eggs & cute bunnies on each side of his name, that you can't see and was filled with the following: a floaty thing for the pool this summer, LSU bottles, a nuk sippy cup, blue peeps, easter bunny sock monkey, my first easter chick stuffed animal, cotton candy, baseball toy & Noah's ark plastic eggs! I was/am so in love with it! The basket isn't too baby-ish and is multicolored so it'll go with any outfit and he can use it for years to come, at least that's the argument I told myself for paying $55 for it.
Over Spring break my sweet boy & wonderful hubby played nurse & took care of me while I was recovering from having all 4 wisdom teeth pulled. It was not fun but thank God my Mom came or a few days and helped with Beckham so I literally slept about 48 hours straight!
Grami and Pop got Beckham bunnies for Easter- they don't have names yet. We've considered Pete & Repete or Pootie head & Looski (those are Beckham's crazy nicknames) but nothing has stuck!
You can't really see his Easter outfit but this is the only picture I have on my phone & my laptop decided to die on me. Boo! Easter brought the usual cold snap & horrible weather so, it was cold & rainy all day. But, Beckham really didn't care about hunting eggs anyways, so it turned out fine!

We finished off the month of April by visiting Yaya and Grumpy!! They remodeled their house & it's finally done, or livable lol it looks awesome & will be amazing when it's completed!
Sweet boy napping at Yaya's and eating Swiss cake rolls-which he LOVED btw!

So, our April was pretty awesome. We stayed busy, obviously, because it came & went in the blink of an eye! I am trying HARD to savor these precious moments with Beckham but it is so hard! It seems like he is growing at warp speed & I am missing everything!!!!! Side note- he I'd trying HARD TO WALK, yes at 9 months! Ugh!!! Hell on wheels! I am so lucky to be his Mommy!
